Bacon, Onion and Apple Pie Recipe
Bacon, Onion and Apple Pie with Short Crust Pastry, Bacon, Onions, Apples and Sage.
INGREDIENTS
Short Crust Pastry
8 oz (225g) Bacon Rashers
1 lb (450g) Onions
1 lb (450g) Cooking Apples, sliced, peeled and cored
1 tablespoon Castor Sugar
2 tablespoons Dried Sage
Salt & Pepper
METHOD
Cut the rind form the bacon and line a pie dish with the rashers. Put the sliced onions on this bed and sprinkle them with salt, pepper and half of the dried sage. Cover this with the apples and sprinkle these with more salt and pepper and the rest of the sage and the castor sugar. Add a tea-cupful of water and cover with the pastry.
Bake in a moderate oven (180C / 350F / Mark 4) for an hour and fifteen minutes.
