Bakewell Tart Recipe
Bakewell Tart with Short Pastry, Strawberry Jam, Butter, Sugar, Baking Powder, Egg and Lemon Juice.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 lb (225g) Short Pastry
2 tablespoons Strawberry Jam
2 oz (50g) Flour
2 oz (50g) Butter
2 oz (50g) Castor Sugar
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1 Egg
12 Drops of Lemon Essence (or 1 tablespoon of Lemon Juice)
METHOD
Line a pie dish with a thin layer of short pastry and spread the jam around the bottom.
Beat the butter and the sugar to a cream, add the egg and beat to a smooth mixture, add the lemon essence (or juice) during the beating. Mix the baking powder with the flour and beat them in gradually. Spread this mixture over the jam in the pie dish and back for about 30 minutes in a rather hot oven (230C, 450F, Mark 8).
