Bannocks Recipe
Bannocks with Oatmeal, Self Raising Flour, Salt, Butter, Sugar, Egg and Milk.
INGREDIENTS
8 oz (225g) Medium Oatmeal
8 oz (225g) Self Raising Flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1 oz (25g) Butter
1 oz Sugar
1 Egg
1/2 pint (300ml) Milk
METHOD
Mix well together the oatmeal, flour and salt. Rub in the butter, distributing it evenly. Stir in the sugar. Beat the egg well. Make a well in the centre of the flour, pour in the beaten egg, then add the milk gradually to form a light dough. Form it quickly into flour round cakes about half an inch (12mm) thick and bake for 20 minutes on a greased tin in a hot oven (230C, 450F, Mark 8).
