Bread Sauce Recipe
Bread Sauce Recipe with Onion, Cloves, Milk, Peppercorns, Bay Leaf, Breadcrumbs and Butter
INGREDIENTS
1 Medium Onion
2 Cloves
3/4 pint (425ml) Milk
1/2 teaspoon Salt
6 Peppercorns
1 Small Bay Leaf
3 oz (75g) Fresh White Breadcrumbs
1/2 oz Butter
METHOD
Peel the onion, stick in the cloves. Place into a saucepan with the milk, salt, peppercorns and bay leaf. Cover and over a low heat bring to just below the boiling point. Remove from the heat and set aside for 30 minutes or longer.
Strain the milk and bring to the boil. Add the breadcrumbs and butter and stir. Place in a heat proof pie dish. Cover and place in the oven on a low shelf for 20 minutes.
