Forfarshire Barley Meal Scones Recipe
Forfarshire Barley Meal Scones Recipe with Barley Meal, Flour, Buttermilk & Baking Soda.
INGREDIENTS
1 lb (450g) Barley Meal
1/2 teaspoonful Salt
4 oz (100g) Plain Flour
3 teacupfuls Buttermilk
1 large teaspoonful Baking Soda
METHOD
Sift the Flour and Salt into a basin, and stir in the Barley Meal. Add the Soda to the Buttermilk, and when the Milk fizzes, stir it into the dry ingredients. Make into a soft dough, turn quickly on to a floured board, and roll out to 1/2 an inch in thickness. Cut into rounds with a cutter, and bake on a hot girdle until the underside is brown. Then turn and brown on the other side.
