Fruit Girdle Scones Recipe
Fruit Girdle Scones with Flour, Raisins, Cream of Tartar, Bicarbonate of Soda, Egg, Sugar, Butter and Milk.
INGREDIENTS
8 oz (225g) Flour
1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1/2 teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda
2 oz (50g) Raisins
1 Egg
1 dessertspoon Castor Sugar
1 oz (25g) Butter
1/4 pint (150ml) Milk
METHOD
Mix together the flour, cream of tartar and soda. Pass them through a fine sieve. Then rub in the butter. Mix in the fruit and sugar. Add the well beaten egg and form a soft dough with milk. Roll out, cut into scones, and cook on a hot floured girdle (or frying pan). Turn when brown on one side.
