Gooseberry Sauce Recipe
Gooseberry Sauce Recipe with Gooseberries, Sugar and Water.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 pint (300ml) White Sauce (for recipe click here)
1 Egg
1/2 oz (13g) Butter
Pepper
Squeeze of Lemon Juice
METHOD
Put the sugar and water into a saucepan. Stir over a gentle heat until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil, skim and boil for five minutes. Then add the gooseberries and simmer until they are soft. Rub them through a rather coarse sieve. Reheat the puree and use. This sauce makes an agreeable change to serve with lamb.
Enough for 4 people.
