Northumberland Griddle Cakes Recipe
Northumberland Griddle Cakes Recipe with Flour, Currants, Milk, Butter & Baking Powder.
INGREDIENTS
8 oz (225g) Plain Flour
2 oz (50g) Currants
Milk
4 oz (100g) Butter
1 teaspoonful Baking Powder
METHOD
Sift the Flour, Baking Powder, and a good pinch of Salt into a basin. Rub in the Butter, then add cleaned Currants and enough Milk to make a soft dough. Roll out on a lightly floured board and cut into small round cakes. Bake on a hot girdle on both sides. Serve split, and buttered hot.
