Scalloped Potatoes Recipe
Scalloped Potatoes Recipe with Potatoes, Butter & Parsley.
INGREDIENTS
3 lb (900g) of Peeled Sliced Potatoes
1 oz Butter
1 1/2 pints (750ml) of Hot Milk
1 teaspoon Salt
2 oz Plain Flour
Pepper & Paprika to taste
METHOD
Brush a large fireproof dish with melted Butter. Cut the Potatoes in crosswise slices and place a layer in the bottom of the dish. Season with Salt, Pepper and Paprika to taste. Sprinkle with Flour. Dab with Butter. Repeat layers until dish is full. Pour Milk in at one side. Put on a lid. Bake in a moderate oven (350F, 180C, Mark 4) for about 1 hour. Remove the lid and bake until brown. Serve with fried, grilled or roast meat, or game, or poultry, or with cold cuts.
Enough for 4 or 5 people.
To Vary This Recipe:
1. Cover with dried Breadcrumbs before baking.
2. Sprinkle all layers with Grated Cheese as well as flour.
3. sprinkle inside layers with Chopped Peeled Onion.
4. Mix 8 oz (225g) Chopped Ham with Potatoes before placing in dish.
5. Mix 2 tablespoons of Minced Pimento and 1 tablespoon of Chopped Chives and 2 oz (50g) Grated Cheese with Potatoes if liked before packing into dish.
