Shepherds Pie Recipe

Shepherds Pie Recipe with Mashed Potato, Cooked Meat, Onions, Stock, Milk, Butter, Flour & Ham.

INGREDIENTS

1 lb (450g) Mashed Potato
1 lb (450g) Cold Cooked Meat
2 Peeled Chopped Onions
1/2 pint (500ml) Stock or Water
1/4 pint (250ml) Hot Milk
2 oz (50g) Butter
1 oz (25g) Plain Flour
2 oz (50g) Cold Ham, if liked
Salt & Pepper to taste

METHOD

Mince the Meat finely. Melt 1 oz of the Butter in a stew pan. Add the Onion and fry until pale brown. Stir in the Flour and then add the Stock by degrees. Stir until thick. Season to taste with Salt & Pepper. Add the Meat. Place in a greased pie dish. Stir the remaining Butter and Hot Milk into the Mashed Potatoes and beat well. Spread neatly over the Meat. Ornament and prick with a fork. Bake in a hot oven (430F) until brown.

Enough for 4 people.
