A Traditional Porridge Recipe
Traditional Porridge Recipe with Porridge Oats, Water, Salt & Cold Milk
INGREDIENTS
5oz (150g) Porridge Oats, or Medium Oatmeal
2 pints (1.2 litres) Water
1-2 tsp Salt
Cold Milk.
METHOD
Put the Cold Water into a large saucepan and bring to the boil. When it reaches boil point sprinkle in the Porridge Oats in a steady rain, stirring all the time with a wooden spoon to keep them evenly distributed. When the Porridge thickens add the Salt and stir a little more. Cover the pan and simmer very slowly for 20 minutes, stirring from time to time as you go. If it becomes too stiff add a little more water. Pour into hot bowls and serve with cold top of Cold Milk.
Serves 4.
